On another forum some of my fellow "Curio & Relic" Collectors were casting about for sources of replica parts for some of the military rifles we are trying to restore.

Many military guns - such a Mausers, Enfields, Springfields etc. were "sporterized" when they were cheap and plentiful.

Now that they are, in their original military configuration at least, becoming more scarce, valuable and collectable, many of us have begun to buy these "Bubbaed" rifles and restore them to their original configuration.

In the case of the more common weapons - K-98 Mausers for example - original parts are still available. But on others, such as the Swedish M-94 Carbine, these parts are becoming very scarce and expensive.

One fellow approached a Machinery manufacturer to explore the possibility of contracting a run of CNC produced parts, but the setup costs were prohibitive.

Since many of the parts on modern replica guns, such as made by UBERTI, seem to be investment castings of high quality, I wondered if it might be possible to contract UBERTI to examine the feasability of having them manufacture some of these parts.

We would need to determine setup costs, cost per part for runs of however many might be most cost effective, and that sort of thing.

For all I know UBERTI would not want to touch such a project with a 10-meter pole... but if anyone knows anyone who knows....

We'd appreciate knowing about it!

Thanks - UJ
