...Wondering if anyone out there has any experience shooting either/both of these? Looking for a light carry gun, and part-time shooter. Frame strong enough on the 1849? Difference in accuracy? The .36 that much hotter a ball re: poweder loads? What size ball and powder load do you recommend? Thanks!

I have an 1849 and use a 9 grain load of Hodgdon triple 7 FFFG powder on recomendation of a gunsmith who had to repair it. I bent the hand with an approx. 15 grain load. 9 grains works fine for putting holes in paper. It shoots high (about 10") at twenty five yds. I have no experienc with .36 cal. only .44 cal. Triple 7 is great it cleans up with just hot water.
