Hello all! I just today purchased a Uberti "thunderer" model, in .45 colt. The goober behind the counter told me to only handload rounds, and nothing above 800 fps. Does this make sense? He also told me no factory ammo as the pressure is to high for these guns. All I want to do is buy a box of factory loads and go out and shoot it, but I also dont want it blowing up in my face.

Can anyone tell me what is the best factory loads for this gun. It just doesnt make sense that uberti would build a gun that could not shoot factory loads, only very low pressure cowboy action loads.

Thanks guys and gals!

Sorry, he also told me NO JACKETED LOADS, only lead. Is this true also?

Thanks again

That seems odd. The instruction sheet with my Cimarron 1873 SAA's said only use factory ammo.

Sounds like the feller who sold you the gun tried to sell you a bill a goods.

As long as you dont exceed SAAMI specs fer the .45 Colt you will be in good shape.
