I have recently aquired an AL 48 in 12 ga that I have a problem with. When I pull the bolt back to the locked position push the release button to release the bolt, it clicks but will not slide back into the closed position. I can take the forend off and as soon as I do the bolt releases and slides back to a closed position. Any suggestions ?

You may need to push the barrel down to get it seated properly so that the magazine will close properly when you first assemble it. After that you need to be sure the loads you have cycle it properly or it might get hung up and jammed.
A couple weeks ago I posted some problems I was having getting my AL-48 to cycle properly. The gentlemen here recommended I take apart and clean everything thoroughly which , while a good idea, didn't help. I also adjusted the tension ring on the main spirng, but nothing changed much.
The problem is that the AL-48 seems to be set up to work properly with 3 inch shells, not 2 3/4 inch shells. I tried many different 2 3/4 loads to no avail. So , since don't do much duck hunting, I gave it to a friend and got a Stoeger Condor O/U to shoot skeet with. The AL-48 works great with 3 inch shells, but I don't think much of it as a light load skeet gun using 2 3/4 shells.
