I've been looking all over heck and back for an Alcione SL Sport I can compare to a 525 Sporting.

I know that the 525 seems to have the correct stock length for me out of the box, and also has a comfortable drop for me for my shooting stance. On paper, I know the Alcione is shorter and has less drop...but I don't know if paper tells the story.

I've been able to look at Franchi Classics and Titaniums in the shops.. and they don't quite fit as well as the 525, but they also don't have the same drop on paper as their SL bretheren.

Any shooting gurus out there who either have both...or have shot both a lot who can tell me....is the Alcione SL Sport a much "shallower" gun when it comes to stock drop?

Also...anyone know of somewhere in Wisconsin (other than waaaaaay up north in Ashland) I might find an SL Sport on the shelf?

Well, here goes nothing....

I took stock photos of each gun and resized them to identical proportions.
Using the butt and the comb as matching indicies, I overlayed the 525 with the SL, then I switched them around, putting the 525 on top of the SL.

Make your own judgements.

Sorry for the large images, but the resolution had to be fairly high in order to distinguish one beautiful gun from the other.

Mudhen, perhaps it is I who has the OCD?
