Anyone know where I can find a barrel for an older (1970s) 20 ga 48 AL? I'm told the newer barrels will not fit my gun. Thanks for your help.

Hi reeder. Did you find any places to get older 48al barrells for 20 gauges? I have one and would like to find another barrel also.

Thanks.

I came across one place (can't recall namve) on net but they wanted over $200 which is more than I payed for the gun. not even cabela's famed gun library could help. I'll let you know if I find some. Meanwhile, I'll stick with open-choke and close shots.

I am considering purchasing a Franchi 48. What is the difference between recoil between a gas operated semi-auto and a long-recoil like the 48?

Reeder-don't know if you solved your problem but I do know that new Franchi barrels, that accept screw-in chokes, will definitely fit your gun. I have two 48 AL's, a 12 and a 20, and have bought and installed the new barrels on them. They work great. Imported by Benelli. Both my guns were made in the late 60's or early 70's.
