does anyone know if there is a recoil pad available for the Franchi 48 AL. I love my new gun, but am surprised at the kick it gives. Also, what about mag-na-porting, has anyone had this done?

Dont know about anything else Franchi has to offer in the way of reciol pads, but getting a gunsmith to put a decelerator pad on it probably wouldnt hurt it. Never seen anyone port a 48al but I dont see why not.

Hi babbos - and welcome.

Porting a recoil operated 48al might hinder it's cycling performance on light loads...

... I don't know this for sure but its something I'd talk to Franchi about for sure!

I'd also ask around if people have ported their Browning A-5's with success .. since the AL was built on the basis of Browning's A-5 but improved slightly through the use of lighter alloys and such.

many after market recoil pads available for sure!!
wallhanger54's decelerator is a good choice ... I use Kick-Eez™ pads for aftermarkets.

thanks guys. I didn't talk to Franchi but I did talk to Mag-Na-Port International in Michigan. They said that there is 2 different porting systems for shotguns. One for auto's and another for other types. I'm going to go ahead and try it, I'll let everyone know the results.
