Hello, I just purchased a shotgun earlier today, It's the Franchi 612, a nice feelin gun with a good price.
It's been many years, and I'm a little confused about the position of the piston. Does this piston go on after the spring is loaded on the tube, or before the spring is loaded, It came to me in the box, and looking at the directions, it appears that the spring goes on prior to the dual arrowed piston, Can someone please confirm this, and tell me about the chokes, Where they go and what there for, I'm getting the idea from the owners paperwork, But I'm not quite familar with the language, Laymans terms is what I'm looking for. Thanks much... Don

The piston goes on the magazine tube LAST (near the front end), just before you install the barrel into the receiver. Attached to the bottom of the barrel is the cylinder that goes around and over the piston. Once the barrel is in place, install the forend piece (wood or synthetic hand piece), then install the forend nut. That's all there is to it. smile.gif

The chokes go in the front end of the barrel. They screw in and out with the little wrench. Their purpose is to restrict (to varying degrees) the size of the pattern that the gun shoots.
