I am having trouble getting shells to advance from the magazine to the breach. This only occurs when I intially load the first shell, pull the receiver, push the button, and nothing. It doesnt advance, and I cant shoot until I manually load the breach. Franchi tech. says that I should load the magazine with the action open, then slide one in the magazine which will advance into the chamber. Well it doesnt work, the receiver closes and we are back to manually loading the first shell. It didnt work today at the trap range. Any help is appreciated since I will be duck hunting in 3 days. The Franchi 48AL and nearly all Italian made semiautomatics are designed NOT to load a shell into the chamber from the magazine unless the gun has actually been fired. Load the magazine with the bolt closed, then pull the bolt back and drop a shell in the open ejection port and push the bolt release button. This will chamber that round. Or, you can load the chamber first, then load the magazine. If you are just shooting one round at a time (as in trap shooting), just drop a shell into the ejection port and push the bolt release button.
