Franchi 612 magazine spring removal

Since I didn't get a response from my previous posting I decided to try posting again with a better desciption. When taking the gun down and cleaning I would like to occasionally remove the Magazine spring and clean and lubricate the magazine tube, spring and cup. It looks like it could be removed from the front of the magazine tube but the instruction manual with the gun does not cover removal of the magazine spring and cup for cleaning. Can you remove the magazine spring and if so describe the process. I would like to get a response on this sometime this week.

Dear Hawkeye: I checked w/ the experts at Franchi for you on removing and cleaning the magazine parts, and here's the recommended procedure: remove the magazine cap. Using needle-nosed pliers, compress and remove the magazine spring retainer. The magazine spring and follower will easily come out at this point. Clean and reassemble in reverse order.

Thanks miss Kitty, this makes this gun truly a great designed gun. Now I can take the gun down all the way and make sure everything is coated with Breakfree CLP for cleaning, lubrication and rust prevention. I am an Engineer with a major company and I can really appreciate the design of this gun. It came with shims that I used for adjustment of the cast and drop. You can remove the plug in the magazine to allow for 5 rounds in the magazine. The recoil spring and gas piston is located in the forearm to facilatate cleaning. You can adjust the gas piston for light or heavy loads. The gun has cycled everything I have thrown at it from 1oz loads to 2oz Turkey loads without a single hiccup. The gun comes with 3 chokes that I patterned...The gun is dead on the money accurate. The balance is great, I guess time will tell if this gun is going to be reliable. After reading the specification concerning the design, I would bet money that it will be one of the best guns for reliability.

Hawkeye 421 I took the cap off and cleaned and lubricated the spring and inside of the magazine with a light coat of synthetic oil with ease.

Hawkeye, I noticed that you use CLP, have you ever tried "CorrosionX" cleaner, lube & protector?

I have used CLP since I was in the Marines but this CorrosionX CLP is even better. I think it both cleans and lubricates better and will find out how it protects in the salt marsh when duck season begins.

I have used their other products on my saltwater boat for years and nothing else comes close to it.
