I have a condor supreme. The rubber recoil pad gets easily stuck on my coat as I bring the gun up for a shot.
Does anyone know of replacement pads that are smoother? Can they be installed by the owner or does this have to be done by a gunsmith?

ive had simlar problems with custom recoil pads, one uses a angel grinder to fit it in witch makes the surface a big rought. ive trained my self to take the shotgun far enught from my body to avoid geting the pad cought in my coat.
i havent tryed this but ive heard it on a swedish hunting forum. use black tape, the kind with smoth surface. put it on the tip/spot where the pad gets cought. other alternetiv is a recoil pad with hard surcae at the top, saw that somewhere. you could also get a special jacket for shoting.

Before gettting it cut down I wanted to see if a slicker/thinner recoil pad was available.

Toolsguy - there's a product called Slick-Eez you can apply to the pad that will make it glide over your clothing.
you can also grind the heel of the pad to an angle to help allow a cleaner mount on your shoulder..
I'd try this and the use the same factory pad (if your happy with it) after the cut-down too.. will save you a few shekels.
most likely you'll just need to do a little scribing and grinding close around the heel with more at the toe of the pad.
good luck.. oh .. and take your time! smile.gif
