Hello everyone.

I just bought a Condor over/under for trap/skeet. I've noticed that the gun came with two choke tubes, one with three notches and one with four notches on the end of them. Does anyone know what sizes they are? And could you tell me what choke I should use for trap, and what size choke I should use for skeet? (I've been using no. 8 shot.

I've been shooting trap for a few months but the gun I've been using isn't threaded for choke tubes but now I got one smile.gif

thanks!

tinman,

See Stoeger's website for the choke information:

http://www.stoegerindustries.com/customer-service/faq.tpl

Q: What do the notches on the choke mean?

A: ONE = Full; TWO = Improved Modified; THREE = Modified; FOUR = Improved Cylinder; FIVE = Cylinder

My opinions for what it's worth on chokes.

For skeet, go out and buy a couple of skeet choke tubes or cylinder choke tubes. It's a short game so you want an open pattern. I use number 9 shot, unless it's particularly windy, then I might use 8 shot.

For trap, I recommend nothing more open than a modified choke. I use number 8 shot and a very tight full choke myself.

Some people like to use 7-1/2 shot. Either works. See what patterns best in your shotgun.

I use 1 ounce loads at about 1185 ft/sec for both games. I find 1-1/8 ounce loads beat me up too much.

Your mileage may vary!

Good luck and good shooting!

Tim
