The manual says to just pull the bolt handle off. It's pretty tight. I see in the exploded diagram there is a bolt handle retaining pin plunger, does this have to come out first. I have not fired this gun yet. Just got it for Christmas. Do I have to totally disassemble the gun to clean it before going duck hunting or can I give it a good thorough shot of gun scrub to get the job done?

Just pull like **** and it will come out. make sure that the barrel is still on or the bolt is locked open so that you dont scratch the reciever. You will need to totally disasimble your gun before shooting it. after taking the bolt completely out push the pin out of the reciever and the trigger mech. will come out. clean the packing grease off all parts and spray it with a light oil, wipe it down and your good to go!!!! If you think that recoil is a problem then give me a buzz!! I love my 2000!!! happy shooting!!

Once you disassemble the gun one time you will be able to completely clean it in less than five minutes. This is a very simple gun to tear down and put back together. There is only three moving parts.

When I bought my gun 3 years ago I didn't have to tear down the bolt to clean it. I actually used brake cleaner to clean out the gunk. Once completed I used WD40 to lubricate the gun, then proceeded to shoot more than a thousand rounds through it since then. So far it has never failed me! But then again if you just have to take the bolt apart.... Have at it!

Also, if you ever have a problem with carbon buildup brake cleaner will take it off quickly. Just always make sure you always lube your gun afterward.

my brother has one of these guns. quickly turned into one of his favorite guns. went duck hunting last week. the only way that he could unload his gun was to shoot everything off - the bolt fell off somewhere in the marsh!

I've had the bolt handle on two different M2000s come off in the fileld (one I found, the other I lost). Make sure when you put the bolt handle back in the bolt assembly that you push hard to seat it completely. I've got a bolt handle on order from Stoeger.

how much do they cost? sounds like an inherent design flaw. this was the 2nd time it came out. he said that he did push it in til it snapped in,but it fell out again. should not have fallen out the first time. this sort of thing and their customer service dept make me have 2nd thoughts about my order for this gun.
bolt handle falling off is a common problem, and they dont seem to fix it on the newer guns either. If I were you I would cancel now and consider yourself saved.
My M2000 is ready to go back for the 4th time, and last. I have worked out a replacment gun with the factory which I will never shoot, just sell and move on.

i wonder if this is inherent with just this gun or if benelli guns have this problem too?
I would guess with just the Stoegers. I never heard or read about it in Benelli part of this forum, they look similar but guaranteed they are different and not interchangeable.

TMAC Did they ever fix your problem permanently? Just bought a new M2000. What a heap. Won't cycle semiautomatically at all even with heavy loads 2oz 3 dr,and bolt handle broke into two pieces trying to cycle rounds. That was the first day trying to shoot it. Only got through 125-150 rds. Back to Stoeger. Hate buying new guns always a crap shoot since you can't return them. I have even had problems like this with expensive guns.
Sure they fixed it, after 4 returns under warranty they sent me a new gun and that new gun I sold without ever firing it. I bought a Winchester SX2 and havent looked back......so in my case switching brands made for a much happier hunter.
